The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) welcomed a delegation from the Asia Pacific Top Level Domain Association (APTLD) to its office in Dubai. The visit came as part of ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise in the field of national domain name management.

During the meeting, APTLD representatives expressed their aspirations to strengthen coordination with TDRA across several initiatives aimed at developing the domain name ecosystem and enhancing the efficiency of its digital infrastructure at the regional level. The discussion also emphasized the importance of exchanging best practices among member states.

The meeting highlighted the continuous growth of the .ae domain and its leading regional role, along with the innovative initiatives launched by TDRA. These included the integration of generative artificial intelligence technologies into domain name selection services through the “Name Ideas” initiative, which supports entrepreneurship and promotes the national digital identity.

During the visit, the delegation praised the UAE’s global leadership in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) penetration, reaching a coverage rate of 99.5% in 2025 for the ninth consecutive year. This reflects the success of strategic investments in the telecommunications sector and their alignment with the “We the UAE 2031” vision.

We believe that collaboration with specialized organizations such as APTLD contributes to building a sustainable internet governance ecosystem and supports the development of a secure and agile domain environment that enables entrepreneurship and aligns with the UAE’s digital future ambitions.”

This visit comes within the framework of TDRA’s efforts to strengthen its international partnerships in domain name management and reinforce the UAE’s position as a leading regional and global digital hub. It also reflects the importance of ongoing engagement with specialized organizations to support the development of national strategies and policies related to internet infrastructure and domain name systems.
