Numbering resources are a national resource managed by TDRA through the National Numbering Plan policy, with the aim of ensuring the optimal use of numbering resources and the availability of adequate numbering resources that meet the needs of the telecommunications sector and its future growth. This is in addition to enhancing means of competition in the local market, improving the level of services provided to consumers and meeting all their needs by providing number portability services based on the number portability policy and the relevant instructions issued by TDRA. This service allows subscribers to choose their preferred service provider.
Numbering Resources
TDRA is responsible for distributing line keys, private phone numbers, and the range of numbers to licensees in accordance with the provisions of Federal Law by Decree No. 3 of 2003 and its amendments, and in accordance with the conditions determined by TDRA’s decision with the approval of the Board of Directors. TDRA follows up on the use of numbering resources allocated to operators in order to monitor their fair availability and reduce their waste, in addition to monitoring global technological developments and analyzing the impact of changes on the use of these resources, with the aim of ensuring their sustainability in the sector.
Number Portability Services
The telecommunications sector provides its individual and business customers with number portability services, which aim to enhance competitiveness among service providers in the country, and allow the customers to choose their preferred operator without changing their phone numbers.
Mobile Number Portability
The Mobile Number Portability Service was launched in 2013 and applies to all mobile numbers starting with the digits (050,055,052,054,058,056).
Fixed Number Portability (Landline)
The Fixed Number Portability Service was launched in 2021 and applies to all regions of the country (02,03,04,06,07,09).
Toll-free Number Portability
Toll-free (800) number portability service was launched in 2022 and used by the business sector in the country.
