The Telecom Infrastructure and Standards Section is responsible for the operational management of business continuity, emergency preparedness, and crisis management frameworks within the telecommunications sector. This is carried out through the implementation of approved frameworks and procedures, monitoring the readiness of relevant entities, and ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities during emergency situations. The Section also coordinates with concerned stakeholders, as needed, to ensure service continuity and prevent disruptions under all circumstances. The Section manages regulatory instruments related to emergencies and infrastructure, oversees their implementation in line with approved requirements, and ensures compliance by relevant entities. This includes assessing the effectiveness of such instruments, identifying challenges associated with their implementation, and addressing observations within defined authorities to ensure the orderly management of emergency situations. Additionally, the Section prepares studies and research related to infrastructure and crisis management, conducts relevant benchmarking exercises, analyzes outcomes, and proposes solutions, recommendations, and strategies aimed at developing infrastructure and enhancing crisis management mechanisms, within its approved mandate. The Section updates and develops guidelines and specifications for telecommunications rooms and infrastructure components related to service delivery to consumers, ensuring clarity of technical requirements, standardization of specifications, and improved compliance by relevant entities. Through these responsibilities, the Section contributes to regulating infrastructure elements, supporting service continuity, and enhancing the overall readiness of the telecommunications sector.
