The Fast Forward Summit, hosted by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) over two days, has been launched today in the presence of a group of eminent personalities and experts in the field of e-commerce from around the world.
The Summit launch event has been attended by H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, and H.E. Saeed Matar Al Marri, Deputy CEO Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development, an Agency of Dubai Economic Development Department – Government of Dubai. The list of global companies participating in the summit includes Facebook, Google, Amazon and Uber, and they will present their experience in the fields of eCommerce and the use of smart solutions. The Summit Agenda includes a number of topics that support this direction, such as the basic tools for the development of eCommerce for entrepreneurs, the identification of demands and consumption trends in the Middle East, e-currency and online payment.
TRA Director General Speech:
“Recent studies show that the majority of global CEOs believe the next 3 years will be more critical for their industry than the last 50 years. This is not only because of the fast evolving advancements. The critical element lies in the ‘Creative Destruction’ or the constructive restructuring, which is the result of dramatic changes in economy, along with the emergence of new business models. Companies spending methods have changed to focus on database centers, algorithms and smart solutions, instead of investing in building factories or developing products.”
“This is evident through the activities of the companies attending the Summit today, such as the world’s largest taxi company, Uber, which owns no vehicles, the world’s biggest media and news owner, Facebook, which creates no content, and Alibaba website that owns no products.’’ H.E. Al Manoori added.
Moreover, H.E. Saeed Matar Al Marri, Deputy CEO Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development, an Agency of Dubai Economic Development Department – Government of Dubai, said: “Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME works to achieve the objectives of Dubai 2021 Plan to enhance the SME contribution in Dubai economic growth. Since its launch, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME has followed a distinctive method in accelerating the SME growth, making it the region’s leading reference for SME Development Policies.”
H.E. Al Marri praised the efforts of TRA in organizing the Fast Forward Summit that enhances the excellence and compatibility of entrepreneurship in the UAE and the region with the today’s technological innovations. The Summit includes speakers from leading technology companies from around the world. Their presence confirms the region’s importance in enhancing the future of startups and entrepreneurships. The Summit provides the ideal platform and opportunities for entrepreneurs and leaders in the region to learn more about the potentials of smart technologies, social media and the internet.
