REPRESENTING THE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), THE UAE COMPUTER EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (AECERT) PARTICIPATED IN THE BIG ENTERTAINMENT SHOW 2014 HELD AT THE DUBAI INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION AND EXHIBITION CENTRE ON 27TH – 28TH OCTOBER, 2014 UNDER THE PATRONAGE OF HIS HIGHNESS SHEIKH MANSOOR BIN MOHAMMED BIN RASHID AL MAKTOUM.

The aim of TRA, through participating in the event for the second time in a row, is to encourage awareness about the importance of promoting cyber security. That is achieved through “Salim” the mascot, created by TRA to disseminate a “culture of cyber safety”.

“In light of the significant growth witnessed by the digital entertainment sector in the United Arab Emirates, we should cooperate and unify efforts to promote a culture of cyber security, which is one of our main objectives in the TDRA. Through our participation in the biggest entertainment content exhibition in the region for the second year, we aim to highlight the importance of spreading awareness among technology users about the risks associated with the growing use of the internet. I believe that the TRA’s innovative mascot "Salim" contributes significantly in facilitating the process of spreading awareness among public on the importance of enhancing cyber security in the UAE,” commented H.E. Mohamed Naser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General.

“This year we are hosting a developer jam where students from various UAE universities will compete to create an application in a predefined timeframe, this is in line with H.H. Shaikh Mohammed’s vision and mGovernment’s strategy,” he added.

By participating in this event for the second year running, the TRA aims to raise awareness on the importance of enhancing cyber security through its official mascot, ”Salim”, which was created by the TRA to spread cyber security awareness and enhance the standards and practices of IT security in the UAE.

aeCERT aims to enhance the standards and practices of cyber security in the UAE and protect the IT infrastructure from cyber threats by supporting the ICT infrastructure and protecting it from cyber-crimes and fostering a safe cyber culture in the UAE.
