Since February 2018, Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) organises the UAE Hackathon every year, to enhance innovation and contribute to the happiness of the UAE society.
In rapid evolving changes of the emerging technologies, we will launch the 7th edition of the UAE Hackathon as a hybrid version to enable innovators from all sectors across the UAE to take part in creating technological solutions to various challenges that face all UAE's sectors. We aim to design a sustainable digital future and contribute to realizing the UAE Centennial 2071.
Viewed as the largest competitive event for innovation at the national level, the UAE Hackathon reflects the efforts of the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) to disseminate the culture of digital transformation in the country.
As a result of the great success achieved by the UAE Hackathon in the past 6 years, TDRA is going to organise it in February 2024, which coincides with the Month of Innovation. Accordingly, we launched this consultation to collect your thoughts and suggestions regarding challenges to be tackled during the UAE Hackathon, in addition to any ideas related to training materials and partnerships to achieve the goals of the event.

Based on the consultation survey for version 7 of the UAE Hackathon, several key actions have been taken to enhance the event. The themes have been refined to focus not only on challenges but also on key aspirations, such as real-time proactive services, economic cybercrime solutions, and technology applications in education. Additionally, improvements have been made to ensure the Hackathon remains value-driven, prioritizing measurable impact across individuals, processes, technologies, and resources. Sustainability and cybersecurity challenges, including Metaverse, Digital Twins, and AI, have also been highlighted.
To further improve the Hackathon experience, new initiatives have been introduced, such as Co-Creation Sessions to identify key aspirations and challenges annually. The award structure has also been expanded, with proposals to introduce new categories like "Best Micro-Business Idea" and "Best Micro-Business of the Year," allowing for more winners while optimizing prize distribution. Additionally, efforts will continue to spread awareness about the role of technology in daily life and foster an innovation-driven ecosystem in the UAE.
