The Arab Spectrum Management Group (ASMG) was established in 2001 by a decision of Arab Telecommunications and Information Council of Ministers of League of Arab States, with the aim of enhancing cooperation in the field of frequency spectrum management, through sharing and exchanging views on radio communications developments globally, as well as managing and coordinating all issues related to frequency management at the Arab level, and world radio communication conferences. ASMG achieved many results, including the submission of research studies in various radio services to the ITU study groups, as well as introducing new frequency bands to meet the requirements of mobile broadband service, in addition to holding a number of leadership positions in the ITU, most importantly chairing the World Radio communication Conference 2012 and 2019, and the preparatory meeting for the World Radio communication Conference 2019.
The UAE, represented by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), will host the 30th meeting of ASMG from 20 to 23 February 2023 at Habtoor Palace , Dubai.
This meeting is the last ASMG meeting before holding the preparatory meeting for the World Radio communication Conference (CPM23-2), which is scheduled to be held in March/April 2023 in Geneva.
