The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) is participating in the activities of Qatar’s Information and Communication Technology Exhibition and Conference “QITCOM 2017”, which is held in the Qatari capital Doha from 6-8 March 2017, in the presence of a group of decision-makers, entrepreneurs and experts from government entities and regional and international companies.

Through this participation, the TRA presents a range of projects and services provided by the Center of Digital Innovation (CoDI). Among the highlighted ones is the mGovernment training portal and its various channels, including the online trainer, the self-training and the onsite training. This participation has another dimension, which is sharing experiences and highlighting the comprehensive smart transformation process in the UAE, which has been achieved in a record time of only two years.

In turn, the Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT) presents “Salem” portal project, which is a specialized portal for spreading awareness among different segments of society, particularly children, about the safe use of all modern means of communication, including smart devices and social media. The Team also explains their role, services, and workshops provided to the private and government entities in this field.

In this context, H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, said: “The UAE has come a long way in establishing the foundations of smart transformation, as well as utilizing all modern technologies to serve the customers and achieve their happiness, which is an implementation of the wise leadership directives in this regard. Our participation in QITCOM today is a continuation of our ongoing efforts to strengthen the UAE’s global leading position in this field, as well as an opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge with decision-makers in the public and private sectors.”

“The region is moving towards enhancing the utilization of technologies and smart solutions, and using them to serve the sustainable development goals. Hosting international conferences and exhibitions is part of this approach, which aims to build a knowledge-based economy, and reflects the region’s position in this field.” H.E. Al Mansoori added.

The ‘QITCOM’ Conference and Exhibitions is the largest digital event in Qatar, and it is held under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar
